Nature for Environmental Action

Cities are home to most of the world’s population, with more and more people heading to urban centers every day. As a result, cities are major contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for over 70% of carbon dioxide emissions. At the same time, cities experience much of the brunt of extreme weather events, urban flooding, heat island effect, and more.

Cities are in dire need of transformative environmental action. Forests and nature must be a part of the solution — and can be in multiple ways. Cities4Forests works with cities to use nature to help cities track the GHG emissions and removals from forests and trees, provide technical assistance to help them develop policies and plans, and advance projects that reduce emissions and promote environmental resilience.
