There’s a global gap in projects to implement nature-based solutions. Although nature-based solutions could help cities address many problems, these solutions are not happening at a large enough scale and are not being adopted quickly enough. But there’s another problem: a lack of data on which projects do exist, how much funding they have, what barriers they face, and what results they are producing.
Cities4Forests’ work to track nature-based solutions aims to fill these information gaps. By surveying current projects in key regions around the world, we are working to further prove the effectiveness of nature-based solutions and better understand what needs to happen to accelerate and expand them, particularly in how to increase project funding. We have worked extensively to gather this information in Latin America and the Caribbean and are currently doing the same in sub-Saharan Africa.
