James Anderson

Communications Manager, World Resources Institute

James is the Cities4Forests Communications Manager with the World Resources Institute, where he helps manage project delivery and communications for Cities4Forests. James works closely with WRI’s International Offices to deliver technical assistance to cities around the world.

James has worked for the WRI’s Forests Program, developing projects such as Global Forest Watch, the Global Restoration Initiative, and the Forest Legality Initiative. James was also a Research Fellow at the Gobabeb Training and Research Centre in Namibia, worked with Jones Associates Foresters in Maine, the Fish and Wildlife Service in Kodiak, Alaska and the National Park Service at Mt. Rainier, Washington. He was also a writer for the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History’s online biodiversity database The Encyclopedia of Life.

James is passionate about both effective communications and rigorous research. He studied English and Environmental Studies at Grinnell College, Iowa.

James is based in San Francisco, where he is an avid trail runner, hiker, and mandolin player.
