Team Biography
Clare Blackwell
Research Analyst, Cities4Forests
Clare Blackwell is a Research Analyst for the Cities4Forest and Urban Development teams at WRI. She coordinates the work of the GGI Accelerator across Sub-Saharan Africa, providing technical and coordination support to teams as they drive investment in green-gray infrastructure for urban climate resilience. In addition to this work, Clare leads the Deep Dive Initiative and several other Urban Development projects, with a focus on bringing WRI teams and partners together to create efficient, innovative projects that drive transformation toward equitable, healthy, sustainable cities worldwide.
Prior to joining WRI, Clare worked as a junior researcher with the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre on climate-smart urban conflict recovery and helped publish a report on China’s BRI initiative in Central Asia with the Oxford Silk Road Society. Her background (and her heart) is in environmental education, especially about urban natures.
Clare holds a M.Sc. in Nature, Society, and Environmental Governance from the University of Oxford and a B.S. in Anthropology and Environmental Studies from Tufts University.
