Bengaluru, known as the “Garden City of India,” joined Cities4Forests in 2024. Bengaluru is the third city in India to develop a Climate Action Plan and established a Climate Action Cell to drive its ambitious targets. As a member of Cities4Forests, the city has been strengthening its blue-green infrastructure by expanding parks, lakes, and urban forests, among other initiatives. These efforts will help mitigate climate risks, enhance residents’ quality of life, and help the city become a role model for sustainable urban development in India. Bengaluru’s actions as part of Cities4Forests are being led by the city’s civic body, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
