Nature Park supports governor Parkop’s 50,000 trees target

THE Port Moresby Nature Park says it is committed to supporting National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop plant 50,000 trees by World Environment Day on June 5.
Park chief executive officer Michelle McGeorge made this known after the Skal Cub of Port Moresby placed their support behind the park by committing K10,000 towards the trees for life project.
The trees for life – schools tree planting project was launched at the Gerehu Secondary School with teachers and students last month, one day ahead of International Day of Forests.
Throughout the school’s tree planting exercise, the Nature Park will also be delivering educational programmes to students on plant biology, the importance of rainforests, climate change and climate change mitigation.
Skal Club president Gary Seddon, while making the commitment, said: “We are proud to support the Port Moresby Nature Park in their efforts.
“As one of PNG’s leading tourist facilities, their efforts to create a greener city also supports tourists’ expectations of our tropical island when they arrive into Port Moresby.”
